Outdoor Living Story Hilaire

Meet Hilaire and Astrid, the proud owners of a charming residence in Lisse, where they've resided for nearly two decades. They share this lovely abode with their two teenagers. Back in 2004, they decided to put down roots here, and since then, they've devoted themselves to transforming their spacious garden into a true paradise. Intrigued? Let's take a peek!   

"From April to September, we live outdoors; we're true outdoor enthusiasts."

Hilaire beams with excitement as he shares, "We've always had a passion for gardening. Our garden is quite extensive, 24 metres deep and 6.5 metres wide, and we wanted to make the most of it. A friend suggested we consult with a garden architect, and that's where our adventure began. We envisioned our garden mirroring the Ibiza garden style," Hilaire proudly states, gazing at their beautiful outdoor space. "Astrid adores the fusion of black with wooden accents. Finding garden furniture to fit that vision was a challenge. At least, until we discovered Life. Nearly everything there matched our taste."

For this family, comfort was at the top of their list. An Ibiza-style lounge sofa was a must-have, but they also wanted to preserve their fantastic view. "We chose durable, top-quality garden furniture," Hilaire explains. "We treat the teakwood tabletops annually, ensuring they stand the test of time. Thanks to the canopy, we now leave our garden cushions outside year-round. If any stains happen to appear, we have the 'mould remover' to make them spotless again. Incredible stuff!"

"Four years ago, we completely revamped our garden, acquiring all the furniture and accessories we needed. Now, our garden is exactly how we want it."

The couple is delighted to share their favourite spots in the garden. During summer, they often relax on the veranda, on the lounge sofa. As the evening sun sets in, they gravitate toward the two relaxing chairs by the house. These are the moments when they relish their garden to the fullest. When the weather is nice, dining outdoors is a treat. They alternate between dining at the dining set and the bar set.

"Our teenagers adore the bar set. It's where they love hanging out with their friends."
