Responsible outdoor living with Life

Together towards a sustainable future

At Life Outdoor Living, we believe that true outdoor enjoyment starts with conscious choices. Guided by this vision, we work every day to make our outdoor furniture and processes more sustainable. We do this not only by focusing on the quality of our products but also by continuously innovating. From the selection of materials to production processes and collaboration with our suppliers: sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

Sustainable use of materials

All our teak wood is SVLK- or FSC®-certified. This guarantees that it comes from sustainably managed forests, with respect for biodiversity and local communities. Thanks to its high oil content, teak wood does not dry out, is resistant to rot, and is ideal for long-term outdoor use. It absorbs heat, does not splinter, and provides a safe, comfortable experience – year after year.
We are constantly seeking new ways to safeguard the lifespan and quality of our teak. We invest in technology and knowledge-sharing with our partners to process the wood as sustainably as possible. In doing so, we ensure that our customers can always rely on the best wood available.

But it’s not just our teak that is sustainable; we also use solar-powered LED lighting in our outdoor lighting collections, and we offer products made from recycled materials. The use of recycled materials is being continuously expanded across our product lines, contributing to a circular economy. Our focus on innovation enables us to keep discovering and applying new, more sustainable materials.

The certified wood we use not only offers a sustainable solution, but also guarantees the highest quality for our customers.

Respect for people and the environment

At Life, sustainability goes beyond materials. Social responsibility is a core value. We ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for workers' rights throughout the entire supply chain. Our workshop in Roosendaal plays an important role in this commitment. Returned or damaged furniture is repaired or recycled here, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. Packaging materials and leftover wood pieces are given a second life to help conserve resources. Additionally, we collaborate with local organizations to raise awareness about sustainability and share knowledge about recycling processes.

Collaboration with suppliers

Sustainability starts with the supply chain. We work exclusively with suppliers who meet strict standards, such as BSCI or Sedex/SMETA certifications. These standards ensure that workers operate in safe environments and receive fair wages. Respect for workers' rights, including the right to breaks and holidays, is strictly monitored. On top of that, our sourcing manager carries out additional inspections twice a year to ensure that these standards are upheld.

By setting shared goals,
we drive continuous improvement in our production processes.

Efficient packaging for sustainability

When developing new products, we strive for compact and stackable designs. This reduces the number of containers needed and lowers CO₂ emissions. Our sturdy packaging minimizes transport damage, preventing the need for reproduction – which would have a higher environmental impact. In addition, in 2024 we reduced the use of plastic packaging materials by 50% compared to 2021. By combining smart packaging designs with efficient transport planning, we contribute to a more sustainable logistics chain. Our approach not only has a positive impact on the environment but also results in cost savings, which we can reinvest in sustainable innovations.

Sustainable logistics and storage

Sustainability is at the heart of our warehouse and logistics processes. We carefully separate waste and work with sustainable recycling organizations. For example, cushions are recycled by people with a distance to the labor market, and returned or damaged products are given a second life in our own workshop. Logistic carriers, such as pallets, are repaired and reused, helping to extend the lifespan of materials.

We also use electric vehicles, such as forklifts and pallet trucks, which contribute to lower energy consumption and reduced emissions. Furthermore, we optimize our logistics by using advanced planning tools. These tools help minimize travel time, fuel consumption, and empty mileage. During deliveries, we take back waste materials for efficient recycling, and our service technicians offer on-site repairs to avoid return shipments. Through technology and data analysis, we continue to improve our processes and reduce our environmental impact.

A sustainable future

At Life Outdoor Living, we prove that luxury, design, and sustainability go hand in hand. By making conscious choices, we are building an outdoor lifestyle that is not only beautiful but also responsible. We believe that small steps lead to big changes and invite everyone to contribute to a more sustainable world. Will you join us?
