Garden furniture cover advice

Which protective cover do you need for your furniture?

Some garden furniture manufacturers strongly believe that a protective cover is unnecessary. While it's true that certain cushion covers and furniture materials withstand all weather conditions well, at BuitenHof, we design our garden furniture to be weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor use year-round. However, we recommend choosing a protective cover to extend its lifespan and for added convenience. A garden furniture cover offers the following benefits:

  • Extends the life of your garden set
  • Protection against all weather conditions
  • Prevents material stains and moisture spots
  • Less cleaning required in spring
  • Guards against bird droppings, algae, leaves, dust, and scratches
  • What to Look for When Buying a Garden Furniture Cover?
  • When purchasing a garden furniture cover, you want to be sure you're making the right choice. It’s important to critically consider a few key points. We've compiled a checklist to help you choose the right garden furniture cover.

What to Look for When Buying a Garden Furniture Cover?

When purchasing a garden furniture cover, you want to be sure you're making the right choice. It’s important to critically consider a few key points. We've compiled a checklist to help you choose the right garden furniture cover.

  1. Choose the Right Size Cover
Group your furniture together to measure the total area. Always allow a margin of 5 centimetres when choosing a cover. We recommend this margin to avoid excessive tension on the cover.
  2. Choose a Waterproof and UV-resistant Cover
If your garden set (including cushions) stays outside all year, opt for a cover that withstands all weather conditions. A waterproof and UV-resistant cover protects your furniture from sun fading, snow, wind, ice, and rain.
  3. Ventilation in Your Cover
Always ensure your cushions are dry before placing them under the cover. If they do get wet, a cover with ventilation slots ensures that no suffocation or mould formation occurs.
  4. Strong Seams and a Table Cap
During heavy rain, water may accumulate on lower parts of the cover. Regular pooling puts a lot of pressure on the seams. To prevent them from tearing over time, choose a cover with high-quality seams. Additionally, we recommend using a table cap to ensure water always runs off the table.
  5. Robust Attachment
You don’t want your furniture cover to be blown away by the wind. Look for a cover with a strong attachment system. We suggest a clip system that attaches to the furniture legs, as well as a drawstring to tighten the cover.

All garden furniture covers from Life meet the above criteria, ensuring optimal protection for your furniture at all times!

Which Garden Furniture Cover Do You Need?

Of course, the type of garden furniture cover you need depends on the type of garden furniture you have. At Life, we offer different types of covers, including those for lounge sets and garden sets, as well as parasol covers. Looking for a custom-sized garden furniture cover? We can provide the right protective cover for any size of garden furniture.

Features of Our Protective Covers

Even though our garden furniture is designed for year-round outdoor use, a protective cover can offer extra convenience. Quality is very important to us, so our covers are made from 100% ripstop polyester with a breathable membrane. This material is rated at fabric class 7, indicating very high quality. The fabric class determines the degree of colourfastness and the strength of the fabric. Additionally, our covers are equipped with buckles, ensuring they stay securely in place even in adverse weather conditions.

A protective cover is ideal for those who wish to leave their cushions outside or ensure their furniture is well-protected in bad weather. A cover not only protects but also keeps your lounge set cleaner. With a lounge set cover, you can quickly enjoy your lounge set again in the spring!

Protective Cover for Dining Garden Set

Do you have a garden dining set? To protect it optimally, we advise using a garden furniture cover for dining sets during extended periods of bad weather. It's important to choose a cover of the right height. You also want to prevent the cover from shifting. A handy click-and-fasten system is the solution. Always use a table cap to prevent water from pooling in the lower parts of the garden set cover.

Parasol Cover

You'll want to keep your parasol looking great and well-protected. To maintain the parasol fabric in optimal condition, we recommend using a parasol cover. At Life, we offer three different sizes of parasol covers:

  • Small parasol cover (pole parasol): for a canopy span of 3x3 meters
  • Large parasol cover (cantilever parasol): for a canopy span of 3x3.5 meters
  • Extra-large parasol cover (cantilever parasol): for a canopy span of 4x4 meters

These parasol covers fit all parasols in our range. Already have a parasol? If the canopy span fits within these dimensions, our covers are suitable for your current parasol.
