Parasol maintenance

How to keep your parasol looking beautiful for years to come

How to clean your parasol

If there’s a stain on the parasol canopy, you can easily remove it yourself. Use soft soap and lukewarm water or our Fabric Cleaner. If the entire canopy is dirty, you can detach it and hand wash it. To clean a parasol canopy properly, follow the step-by-step guide below.

Tip: Is your parasol placed under a tree? Regularly check the fabric for bird droppings and remove them as soon as possible to prevent stains. Always close the parasol when not in use.

What you’ll need:

Step 1: Cleaning the parasol canopy
Start by removing the canopy from your parasol. Are there visible stains? Treat these first with our special Fabric Cleaner for the best results. Then, prepare a mild soapy solution using lukewarm water and soft soap – use a large bucket or, if you need more space, the bathtub. This gives the canopy a thorough yet gentle cleaning.

Step 2: Rinse and dry
Gently place the canopy in the lukewarm soapy water. Wash it by hand and carefully work out the dirt. Once clean, wring it out well to remove excess water. This prepares the fabric for proper drying.

Step 3: Clean the aluminium frame
Keep the aluminium parts of your parasol clean and well-maintained with aluminium cleaner. Apply the cleaner directly to a soft cloth (without water) and gently rub it over the aluminium surface. The aluminium may look a little dull during application – this is normal. Let the cleaner sit briefly, then buff the surface with a clean, dry cloth to restore its fresh appearance.

Step 4: Protect the canopy
Reattach the canopy while it's still slightly damp and let it dry in the open air. Once completely dry, treat the fabric with Fabric Protector to renew its dirt-repellent layer.

Tip: A parasol can stay outside under a protective cover, but make sure to air it out regularly to prevent mould.
